Working together to build your dream home.

OUR TEAM

Kevin Otey has built his reputation as a leading builder in the Triad are of North Carolina on his experience as a respected framer.  His 30 years of experience taught Kevin that quality must be integral in home construction from the ground up. “The frame is literally the heart of the house,” he explains.  “When a house is properly framed, the sheetrock will hang correctly, trim and molding are square and tight, and insulation can be properly installed to create an energy-efficient home.” Kevin spends a lot of time on each job site making sure that his sub-contractors are providing the superior craftsmanship people expect with an Otey home.

Just as the frame is the heart of the house, Kevin Otey is the heart of Otey Construction.  Kevin has made superior customer service a cornerstone of Otey Construction.  “Promises made, promises kept is more than a motto,” he stresses.  “It is the pledge that drove our company from day one, and we are proud that it continues to be the way we do business today.”  Kevin believes the homeowner's relationship with Otey Construction is essential to their satisfaction with the end results.  He listens to the needs of his clients and approaches each home with a clear understanding of the homeowner's requirements.

Otey Construction partnered with WXII-12 and TL Concepts to build the 2009 Concept Home. Tour proceeds benefited the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Otey Construction is a member of the Greater Greensboro Builders Association, and a Parade of Homes winner for the past several years. Kevin and his team have constructed homes in many fine neighborhoods in the Triad from $300,000 and up.

Paul Harris helps Otey clients plan their dream homes. Paul grew up in Asheboro, NC and graduated from Clemson University with a degree in architecture in 1994.  After completing a couple of internships with some commercial architecture firms he decided that residential design and construction was his true passion.  Paul earned his General Contractors license in 1996.  While working full time, he earned an MBA from UNCG in 1999.

In 2006, Paul became a licensed Real Estate Broker and began working with Otey Construction.  He helps clients in finding the perfect lot if they do not already have one.  Paul works closely with Otey clients to listen to their needs and dreams, and endeavors to create a house plan custom tailored to their tastes.  He acts as the clients’ liaison throughout the building process, even helping clients in the materials selection process if they desire.  Paul's "To Do List" give Otey clients peace of mind; with all the vendor contacts and dates needed by for the home components, clients can be assured that their dream home will be completed on time.  Paul Harris shares in the clients’ enthusiasm, and tries to make the home building process enjoyable and memorable. This approach has helped the Otey Construction team keep their commitments and create many satisfied customers over the years.

As construction manager, it's Everett Jarrett's job to keep everything, and everyone, on track. And as a 3rd generation builder with over 35 years in the construction business, he's the right man for the job. With hundreds of vendors and sub contractors, it takes a special person to be able to manage all those personalities.

"I love the challenge of the job," Everett says. "The challenge is to make it happen... find and schedule laborers and stay on schedule. The glory in the job is seeing the beautiful finished product."

Lifelong friends, Kevin Otey says, "I wouldn't be where I am without Everett." In fact, it was Everett's father who taught Kevin the construction business. "Everett's dad was the most selfless man on the face of the earth."

"I’ve been where Kevin is," Everett adds. "It’s a hard job and it takes a strong team to do this as well as we do."

OUR BUILDING PROCESS

Hands-on craftsmen build every home with careful attention to detail, and every project is monitored for on-time completion. To make the building process smooth, all Otey customers receive a “To Do List” with a timeline of dates for selections, where to go to make them, and the representatives they need to see.  “This takes the pressure off the customer,” Kevin says, “and helps us keep the promise of ‘On Time Completion.’  And we have not missed a completion date yet!”

Customer satisfaction and after-sale service are top priorities. To accomplish these goals, Otey Construction takes a teamwork approach. Paul Harris makes sure the Otey Construction team and the office staff stay in sync. Paul works as a liaison between customers and the builder. His expertise and close involvement with each project make him invaluable to customers with their home designs and selection of interior features.  This approach has helped the Otey Construction team keep their commitments and create many satisfied customers over the years.
